Action on Hearing Loss is the trading name of the Royal National Institute for Deaf People. We are the largest charity in the UK working with and for people who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus.
We are looking for an experienced and capable Chair of Audit Committee (Honorary Treasurer) who will make a lasting contribution to our charity. Through our ground-breaking biomedical research, high-quality service delivery, search for better technology and tenacious and effective campaigning we have the ability to transform the lives of people who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus.
The right individual will have the gravitas and energy to lead Action on Hearing Loss non-executive financial governance, so that it can achieve its charitable objectives. They will take a particular interest in and oversight of the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plan and ensuring that the key internal control and risk management framework is sound. We are looking for someone with the business and strategic acumen to support and challenge fellow Board members and the executive leadership in ensuring the good financial governance of the charity.
To be successful you will have significant financial and business experience and ideally be a qualified member of a recognised accountancy body. You will have significant experience of leading and chairing committees/boards. An understanding of the charity sector, for example an appreciation of operations, accounting and legal framework in the UK would be helpful whilst personal experience of or an interest in deafness, hearing loss or tinnitus is a must.
