Ruth Lesirge, Head of Governance

Ruth is a highly experienced voluntary sector Chief Executive, Trustee and Chair. Her portfolio includes coaching for chief executives and chairs, alongside a programme of facilitated peer learning groups for a range of clients. Her expertise also includes setting up foundations and charities, board reviews and awaydays, senior team management development programmes and organisational reviews.

Ruth is the founder and Chair of the Association of Chairs, where she has co-authored two publications, ‘A Chairs’ Compass’ and ‘ A Question of Balance- the Chair-Chief Executive Relationship! She is also a Trustee of the London International Film School and the Bishopsgate Institute.

As a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Cass Business School, she led the consultancy service for the Centre for Charity Effectiveness, including an innovative Chairs co-mentoring programme for the Governance Hub, for whom she has also co-authored The Trustee Recruitment Guide. Other publications include co-authoring of ‘Tools for Tomorrow’ (a strategy toolkit) and ‘Getting Ready for Enterprise’ (focusing on social enterprise start-up) for NCVO.

With a previous career as an adult and community education practitioner/writer and principal, she is also a qualified teacher, with postgraduate qualifications in adult education and voluntary sector management.
