Sir Stephen Bubb to Step Down as Chief Executive of ACEVO; Attenti to Recruit Successor

May 17, 2016

Sir Stephen Bubb will be stepping down as Chief Executive of ACEVO after 15 years at the helm. ACEVO are entering a new era, as Stephen moves into a new role heading up an exciting new project for them.

ACEVO have set out a clear strategy for their work after an extensive consultation, Leading the Charge. It emphasises support to members, sustaining a strong voice, and leading the sector in partnership with others.

“I am proud to have spent the last 15 years leading Acevo into the 21st century. Much has been achieved in driving a modern professional third sector,” Bubb said. “But we all know that the negative attention of recent times has made us look at whether our leadership and governance is as good as it must be. It is now time for me to focus on this, the most important strategic issue facing the sector.”

Paul Farmer, the Chairman of Acevo, said: “The end of his tenure as Acevo’s chief executive is the end of an era. He has already made a huge contribution to our sector, and will continue to do so in this new role.”

ACEVO’s Policy Director, Asheem Singh, will step up as Interim Chief Executive. Stephen will begin his work from July, and will hand over to Ash in June.

David Fielding, Managing Partner of Attenti, will lead the search for Stephen’s successor. David said “Sir Stephen has left a legacy at ACEVO and will be leaving big boots to fill. We are excited to work in partnership with ACEVO to hire a new Chief Executive, and wish Stephen the best of luck in his new venture.”
