Terms and Conditions
The successful candidate will be initially appointed to the Board as a member and Chair Designate.
The Chair Designate will be formally appointed as Chair at NCVO’s Annual General Meeting in November 2026. This timetable allows for a thorough induction and a phased handover. The initial term of office is for three years, with the option of standing for a second and final term of three years.
This is an unremunerated role, although reasonable travel and other out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed. Applicants must be ordinarily resident in the UK and comply with the Charity Commission’s Trustee eligibility requirements.
We envisage a time commitment of approximately two days a month. This includes the following:

- A written supporting statement, outlining your suitability, providing evidence of the criteria within the person specification and your motivation for leading and stewarding NCVO’s Board. Please note CV’s sent without a written supporting statement will not be considered.
- Details of two referees, one of whom should be with regard to your current or most recent role and let us know whether you would be happy for us to contact them as part of the process. Referees will not, of course, be contacted without your prior consent
